The inaugural season of Pro Pigskin Pick’em on Facebook just got a little sweeter with the announcement of a grand prize—$5,000 to the player who scores the most points in the Facebook-wide competition.
In addition, a weekly prize will be awarded to the player who scores the most points for a particular week. If there is a tie, one winner will be selected at random from the group of tied players.
Although it’s possible in theory to win the season-long pool without participating in one of the weeks, it’s highly unlikely that this year’s winner will miss a week of action. Be sure to get your picks in on time each and every week, and not only will you be eligible to win weekly prizes, but you might also find yourself in the running for the $5,000.

I was wondering,is this a pool with just facebook users or is it part of a bigger network? If it is with just face book, or for that matter, where is the money coming from?
Lorne — In addition to creating and running Pro Pigskin Pick’em, I also have the unfortunate distinction of being its financial backer.
At this time, Pick’em is only open to Facebook members (because its native running environment is the Facebook platform). The contest is free, of course, so no money comes in as a result of that.
I have resisted ad placements on the application because I know that they will not produce any noteworthy payouts at the current traffic levels.
Well if that’s the case I certainly take my hat off too you.You are a scholar and a gentleman
You are a fraud.I think you purposely screwed up week 6 by screwing with the web site. You know very well that people wait until Sunday morning to make their picks.I know I wasn’t able too, and I’m sure a lot of people weren’t able to submit their picks as well. Now the whole season up to this point is nul and void.If no one knows what I’m talking about…people weren’t able to submit their picks because all of a sudden the “make your picks” part of the sight was down since Saturday morning. The rest of the sight was working like a top, but not “make your picks.”
As far as I’m concerned if you don’t start fresh for week 7,your a fraud who never had any intention of giving away $5,000.I’m curious, did anyone ever win a weekly prize…..Lorne Kirstein
